New Goal

It has come to my attention that my new hobby has turned me into a horribly disorganized and messy person. I finally got the chance to clean things up :). Therefore ky new goal: stay clean and organized! Every time I sliver something I need to throw away the remains...or put back extra leather...or tools...or hardware. I need to get more drawers, but for now I'm content with the way things are. Let's hope I can keep it that way!

Tack Day

Today I was able to get some tack-making done...FINALLY!!!

First and foremost:

My first foal halter! I have never heard of a slip halter before, but I was asked to make one to fit Gilen for a custom order. I really like how it turned out, especially for my first one.

Next up I finished this halter:

It looks so much better with shortened cheek pieces and the additional pink! Now I just have to make a matching leadrope and clean up the glue.

Last but not least is my big project! Remember this?

Well, it has turned into a giant experiment for me. First of all, ROLLED THROATLATCH! Thanks to a very good friend with some great directions, I think I have figured it out! I know it is too short for this halter, but since the whole thing has been a fluke from the beginning, I probably won't go back and fix it. This halter also allowed me to practice with some silver. It isn't done yet, but I am happy with what I have accomplished with it so far!

That is it for now. Hopefully I will have a few more things done by the end of the day.

Doesn't Get Any Better

Moving my sister didn't go as smoothly as planned. Her lease didn't arrive on time so she couldn't move in until Tuesday instead of Monday. Therefore, my dad just drove with her and I had to stay home because of the farrier coming and the dog.

But, I did get one of my Spring Break goals accomplished: to relax! I didn't do much the last two days, but I enjoyed it :). Last night I spent a few hours with Sonny. We just hung out; it was so nice to not have to have to hurry to be somewhere. So, I grabbed my book, cozied up next to his hay, and enjoyed the night listening to him munch away. It doesn't get any better than that.

Changes

I feel like so much is changing lately. They are all going to be changes for the good, but it still makes me a bit uncomfortable. Too much change at once is overwhelming.

First of all, we are moving my older sister to Chicago tomorrow. She has never really moved out before. Sure she went away to school for a bit, but she was only two hours away and came home every weekend for work. This time she is seriously moving out, since Chicago is six hours away. We are very close, so it is going to be different not having her around all the time. Although she is annoying and super loud, I really am going to miss her so much. But, she is going back to school and this will be such a good opportunity for her. She is very brave and I am so proud of her.

On top of that, I feel like I am growing up a lot. I just finished my third quarter of college which means I am now a sophomore. I am not sure how I feel about that…a lot of mixed emotions. Also, I have started serving full time at work now. It is a lot more money, but it is going to be strange not being a hostess like I have been for the past three years.

Finally, the weather is changing! After some random snow a few weeks ago, it is getting warm and staying warm! In fact, Sonny got to have his blanket off for the first time this year! Boy, did he love that! There is nothing like a good, naked mud bath!

I will be gone for the next few days, but hopefully I can get some serious tack making done when I return!

Dirty Deeds

My first ever Spotlight goes to Joyce Savage and her mare Dirty Deeds, who I was lucky enough to meet at the SE Ohio live show. Joyce was so sweet and such a big help! A truly great performance shower, striving to be realistic, as well as fancy! Dirty Deeds is a Stone Artisan Hall extreme factory custom by Ed Gonzales. Her color is beautiful and her pinned ears give her so much character! A typical mare ;). Joyce topped her off with a red bow in her tail which in the real horse world means "Watch out! She's a kicker!". Too cute :).

Joyce and Dirty Deeds deservingly cleaned up at the show!

I loved her western entries.

Look at all that bling! It looks so good with Dirty Deed's color.

She looked just as good in english!

NOTE: She wasn't finished with this yet. But, I had to run and get my OF dressage horse ready, so I wanted to get a picture of what I could.

They had a wonderful day together and congrats to them both!

SE Ohio Model Horse Show - Other Performance

This costume was AWESOME! The details were really cool.

The following photos are from Joyce Savage's "Mini Show" setup. The whole thing was adorable!!! Definitely beyond words!!!

This doll was really neat! She was so cute. I think she is a Keri Parker?

This has absolutely nothing to do with other performance, but obviously I am obsessed. Isn't he adorable?

SE Ohio Model Horse Show - English

I was also really proud of how Armani did with his classes! He cantered about with 4 NAN cards at his first show!

I LOVE this jump! So cute!

BBF Watch Me Waltz - I think he looked fabulous in his dressage tack :)

BBF Armani in his new Jana Skybova tack set.

BBF Armani - winning english pleasure...

...and english trail.

He placed 2nd in hunter / jumper / cross country.

The winner of that class.

BBF Prestige - Even though he was the only one in dressage, I think he still looked good :).

Overall, a very successful day :).
